Our youth theatre has been a place where young talents have flourished and where countless memories have been created. This Giving Tuesday, we are reaching out to you with a special request for your generous year-end donations to help us replace the aging carpet in our beloved Oldfather Theatre space. The current carpet, well-loved and well-worn, is in desperate need of an upgrade to ensure the safety and comfort of our young performers. This theatre is also the home for our senior programs, Senior Class and WTCT Radio Players. Your contributions will not only transform the aesthetics of our space but also enhance the overall experience for our aspiring actors and dedicated audience members.

Every worthy endeavor needs to have a firm foundation. Will you help us provide
that literal foundation in The Oldfather Theatre and the Archive Room by investing in
new carpet for those spaces? New carpet will help the Academy and Performance
Companies put their best foot forward as they welcome audiences to their after-school class shows, summer camp shows, and productions throughout the year.

New carpet for these spaces will cost approximately $20,000. Each donation
makes it a bit easier to replace the carpet as these performers let their light shine.

The TCT veterans group dedicates a flag each year in honor and memory of comrades they have recently lost. Today, they raised this year’s flag to serve as a memorial for Marc Rapp, long-time TCT volunteer, donor and member of TCT’s Hall of Fame, and Gary Weekly, long-time patron, donor and volunteer alongside his wife Jenay. Thank you, TCT veterans!

It's closing weekend of the youth Academy production of Double Double. Join the hocus pocus to see three immortal witches - cursed by a famous playwright who stumbled upon a real spell and threw it in for some "authentic dialogue." Each time the play is performed the curse gets stronger. But the witches are given a prophesy to break the curse and escape the mortal realm. To unravel the spell they must use the anxieties and fears of teens, a teacher, and a...tiger? to sabotage a production of the cursed play centered around Emily, who just started at their school. You know, life stuff. Before the charm’s wound up, all will face their fears - including the witches - in this tale of loyalty, potato chips, and a doomed drama club.

While our shows and behind the scenes projects are a small snapshot of time in the grand scheme of life, bonds are formed by our volunteers that last through it all. But there is one volunteer group who shares a bond like no other. Our military veterans.

"It's very much about, not only the love of the theatre, but as you talk with others you get to know about their lives and you form bonds from there," said Jim Ramos, a TCT volunteer and Marine Corp veteran. "Within this family there is a connection outside of the theatre too. There was a common thread that brought us together."

While working together on productions, Ramos and others learned they had served in the military as veterans. That experience along with the experience of volunteering at the theatre together, sparked an idea.

In October of 2016, the TCT Veterans group was formed, spearheaded by three volunteers: Jim Ramos, Dusty Nichols and Eddie Shirron. Today, there are around 20 members who have served across all branches of the military. Each year, TCT Veterans gather for a fellowship potluck luncheon at the theatre near Veteran's Day. During their gathering, the TCT Veterans group ceremoniously retire the flag that flies outside of TCT throughout the year and raise a new one as a gift to the theatre. The ceremony will be held on November 17 where this year's honorees will be named. The flag is often dedicated as a memorial to a fellow veteran in honor of their life and service. It has become their annual tradition.

"It is an honor for TCT to open our doors for veterans in celebration and appreciation for all they have done for our country," said Vickie Brokke, TCT President & CEO. "It's also a way for us to express our deep gratitude for all they have done and continue to do for our theatre year after year."
